“I’ll Be Your Mirror” is our very own Sophia Jacoby’s beautiful works, and will be showcased from 6pm! All welcome.
???? “Sophia Jacoby is 19 years old and is based in Geelong (Wadawurrung) and also in Melbourne (Naarm) where she studies a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Rmit. Sophia’s work is heavily inspired by the concept of photography, focusing on ambiguous spaces and figures, offering little context yet still resembling familiar aspects of humanity.
The influence of photography within the subject matter and the use of mixed media communicate the psychological and artificial impacts of time, emphasising it as fleeting and always leaving us with the past which exists in vague snapshot images. The paintings reflect back to the viewer, a landscape of memories slightly blurred at the edges as the beauty of catching a moment is that it is always half slipping away.”
